A webbing is a strong, narrow, closely woven fabric especially used for making seat belts and harnesses or are used in upholstery. A webbing may be made of a variety of different materials such as nylon, cotton, jute etc. Most of the webbing manufacturers and suppliers make these webbings available in customized colors and widths to suit specific applications.

Webbing can be defined as a flat strip or a tube like woven fabric having variety of width. This narrow fabric is called webbing because of the web like meshed material used for making it. Some of the fabric fibers used for making webbings include cotton, jute, nylon, polyester, polypropylene etc. Other than fabrics, webbings are also made with other materials like plastic and vinyl etc. Although nylon webbings and polyester webbings are considered very strong webbings, nowadays, the webbings manufacturers also use certain exceptionally strong materials like Dyneema and Kevlar for making yet stronger webbings for more demanding applications. Polypropylene webbing, cotton, flax or hemp webbing are all used for such applications that do not require very high performance.
